Is it possible to eat sweets while on a diet? Nutritionist Angelina Dyubina answers this question in the affirmative, she is quoted by the Kuban News portal.

According to her, marmalade is a good stress reliever for women during a diet. But it is important to understand that the daily norm of marmalade is not more than 50 grams, the doctor noted.

She also emphasized that the additives contained in the product should be checked. Usually marmalade is made from fruit, berry or fruit and berry puree, and it is also given additional sweetness by sugar, molasses or fructose. A gelling agent is also added to it – pectin or agar-agar. So, if there is no sugar in the product, its calorie content is about 100 kilocalories per 100 grams of product.

Marmalade, which is made on the basis of pectin or agar-agar, can even be useful, since gelling agents have a beneficial effect on the joints, Dyubina noted. She added that some studies also show that regular consumption of pectin reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, normalizes cholesterol levels and even helps to remove salts of heavy metals. At the same time, agar-agar helps to reduce the acidity of the stomach.
