The United States, in connection with the suspension of Russia’s participation in the START Treaty, from today ceases to transmit to Moscow telemetry data on the launches of American intercontinental ballistic missiles and ballistic missiles from submarines. This is stated in the statement of the State Department.

The ministry indicated that the exchange of such information took place within the framework of the START, but the Russian side refused to meet as part of a bilateral consultative commission to reach agreements on this issue.

In addition, from June 1, the United States will stop notifying Russia about the status or location of objects that fall under the START, in particular, about missiles and launchers. Russia will also not be able to conduct inspections on American soil under the New START.

At the same time, Washington will continue to provide Moscow with information on launches of ICBMs and SLBMs in accordance with the 1988 Agreement on Launches of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles and Submarine Ballistic Missiles. Russia will also be informed about exercises in accordance with the 1989 Agreement on Mutual Notification of Major Strategic Exercises.

In the event that the Russian Federation returns to compliance with the START, the United States is ready to cancel these measures.

Recall that on February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia was suspending its participation in the START, but not withdrawing from it.
