At 24 years old, Estefanía Álvarez Gordillo, Degree in Communication and Public Relations, became the Queen of San Francisco de Quito 2021-2022. The election and coronation ceremony of the sovereign took place on the night of November 25, at the National Theater of the House of Ecuadorian Culture Benjamín Carrión.
With Álvarez they were chosen Dominique Quiroga, 25 years old, as Virreina; Doménica Alessi, 19 years old, as Lordship Sympathy; and Louiza Eid Vázquez, 23 years old, she was chosen as Miss Friendship and Fellowship.
The contest was organized by the Reina de Quito Foundation, it was resumed this year after it was not carried out in 2020, due to the pandemic. For this edition, more than 100 from Quito with proposals for social projects, an evaluation committee selected the 10 finalist candidates who had the best initiatives.
The event began at 7:45 p.m., with the theater occupied at 60% of its capacity and biosecurity measures. In the upper tiers the groups of supporters who supported the candidates with shouts, applause, balloons and endorsement posters were located.
At the bottom were the families of the applicants, as well as representatives of the private sector, the mayor of Quito, Santiago Guarderas, councilors, and the outgoing queen Estefanía Barreno.

The jury was made up by Paulina Andrade, image consultant; Carlos Zaldumbide, executive director of the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ); Lucía Banderas, Ecuadorian designer; Rodrigo Cevallos, Executive Vice President of Seguro del Sur; and Carla Barboto, president of Pacari.
The first appearance the candidates made On stage it was at 19:51, in semi-formal dress, after the presentation of a corps de ballet. During the program the Ecuadorian singers Karla Kanora, Joshue and Daniel Páez, and the choral group Forzavu performed.
While the candidates paraded in gala dress, the hosts of the night, Milton Pérez and Ale Boada, journalists from Teleamazonas, presented the social projects of each of the applicants.

The work proposal of the new sovereign focuses on promoting knowledge and use of technology among women entrepreneurs. “If they master these tools, they can move forward with their family and their businesses,” he said.
