408 parking spaces for motorcycles are opened in the parking lots of Zona Azul, in Quito

The new spaces will be in seven places in the city, next to the car parks. The service fees are $ 0.20 and $ 0.40, depending on the day.

Since November 23, the Metropolitan Public Mobility and Public Works Company (Epmmop) enabled 408 parking spaces for motorcycles, as part of the Tariff Rotary Parking Service (SERT), known as the Blue Zone.

Like the spaces occupied by the vehicles, the new spaces are demarcated on the road with blue and white paint, and are identified by the image of a motorcycle.

The hours and service operates in a similar way to that of cars. The user must look for the dealer, acquire the ticket, verify the information (date, time and plate) and place it in a visible place on the motorcycle, preferably on the handlebars, explained Epmmop.

From Monday to Friday, parking lots are available from 08:00 to 17:59, with a value of $ 0.20 per hour, and from 18:00 to 02:00 the rate is $ 0.40. On weekends and holidays the rider pays $ 0.40.

Users who do not pay for the service will be sanctioned by the Metropolitan Transit Agency (AMT) with a fine of 5% ($ 20) of a basic salary.

The Municipality reminds users that the same ticket cannot be used to park in another place and that the maximum time to use the space is two hours.

The parking lots for motorcycles are in the seven Blue Zones that exist in the capital: La Mariscal 1, La Mariscal 2, Santa Clara, La Carolina, La Carolina-La Pradera and CumbayĆ”.

The Tariff Rotating Parking System registers about 6.2 million users, of which around 120,000 are people with disabilities and older adults who are exempt from payment. (I)
