Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the State Duma, will represent Russia at the inauguration ceremony of re-elected Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov.
He was asked if a decision had been made on who would represent Russia at the ceremony. According to him, the Russian Federation will be represented by Volodin.
The other day, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, answering the question whether Vladimir Putin could go to the inauguration of his Turkish colleague, said that he had not heard that Turkey had provided an invitation to this event for foreign leaders.
Meanwhile, Erdogan’s spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said earlier that Ankara decided to invite foreign leaders to the inauguration.
Turkey’s presidential inauguration ceremony may take place on Saturday, June 3.
Recall that Recep Tayyip Erdogan won two rounds of presidential elections in May. In the second round, he won over 52% of the vote, his opponent, opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, 47.9%.
