One of the most common reasons for restricting the right to travel abroad is debts; Russians can check their presence quickly and free of charge. Relevant advice, according to RIA Novosti, was given by lawyer Alexander Zhalnin.

According to the expert, if a decision is made to ban travel abroad, the relevant information is transferred to the border service of the FSB of Russia. He warned that after that, until the restrictions were lifted, it would not be possible to leave the country. He also warned against attempts to “negotiate” with the border guards, since such attempts can even qualify as a crime.

Zhalnin pointed out that if there is no certainty that there are no debts, the information should be clarified before going abroad. The easiest way to find out about the presence of tax, court debts and traffic police fines on the State Services portal. In addition, you can make a request to the Data Bank of Enforcement Proceedings on the official website of the FSSP of Russia.

If there are debts, you need to contact the territorial bailiff department. There they will explain in detail about what amounts the case has been initiated, whether a decision has been made to ban travel and what needs to be done to lift the restrictions. After resolving the issue with debts, the bailiff will issue a decision to cancel the restriction on the right to leave, the lawyer added, but, he drew attention, it will not immediately get into the electronic system of border control authorities.

According to him, a copy of the resolution on the removal of restrictions on the right to leave and documents on payment of the debt are not grounds for passing through the border. He advises checking the debt and resolving issues with it in advance.
