Therapist Irina Andreeva gave advice on precautions to avoid tick bites in the first place. So, writes the portal MedikForum, one of these measures is vaccination.
According to the expert, children can be vaccinated from the first year of life.
“Unfortunately, there is no vaccine against bacterial Lyme disease,” Andreeva added.
Also, the doctor recommended avoiding meadows with tall grass. You shouldn’t stay in tall grass for a long time, it’s better to stick to existing trails while hiking and walking.
The best protection against ticks is the right clothing. It should be as light and uniform as possible. Long trousers, a long shirt, and sturdy shoes keep insects away from the skin. Black clothing is best avoided, as mites are more visible on light-colored fabrics. In addition, it is worth pulling socks over the legs of your trousers. A T-shirt or shirt should also be tucked into your pants to prevent crawling parasites from reaching your skin.
The doctor noted the importance of using repellents with active ingredients that repel ticks. In this case, body odor will seem uninteresting to ticks for a certain period of time. Particular attention should be paid to the hands, back of the knees, head, neck and genital area.
