The American company Adobe, which owns the rights to Photoshop and Illustrator, is renewing licenses for Russian users for free and automatically due to the impossibility of paying for a subscription with bank cards issued in the Russian Federation, TASS reports citing its own sources.
According to the publication, we are talking only about user licenses. Volume licenses are not renewed in this way.
According to an employee of one of the Russian IT companies, user licenses that were purchased through the official Adobe online store have the ability to auto-renew after linking the card. “The free renewal may be provided as a gift to those customers who, in the current situation, cannot use the card to pay abroad, to maintain loyalty and support their users during a difficult period,” the source suggested.
Another insider said that the auto-renewal option became available six months ago. At the same time, you cannot purchase a new subscription – you can only renew the old one for those products that were purchased earlier.
Recall that in early March 2022, after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Adobe, like many other foreign companies, decided to suspend its activities in Russia. It stopped selling its products and providing services, and also closed access to a number of services for Russian state-controlled media. The list of these publications was not specified.
