A St. Petersburg court has stripped former vice-governor Sergei Kozyrev, who held this position from 2011 to 2013, of his driver’s license for one year and eight months after he drunkenly tried to escape from the traffic police, Fontanka writes with reference to the joint press service of the city courts.
Kozyrev was also fined for dangerous driving and resistance to the law.
The ex-official was detained on January 26 in the Vyborgsky district of the Leningrad region. Traffic police officers stopped his Bentley car to check documents and found out that the man was in a state of intoxication. During the execution of the protocol, Kozyrev disappeared. Later, he was found in a hunting lodge about 30 km from the place of detention on the federal highway “Scandinavia”.
As a result, the court arrested Kozyrev for five days. The court said that when drawing up procedural documents, the man tried to tear the papers, so physical force was used against him. An administrative protocol was drawn up on disobedience to the lawful demands and orders of the authorities.
