Belarus has taken the necessary measures to cover the roads on the border with Russia. This statement was made on the air of a local TV channel by State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich.
According to him, close cooperation was organized between all special services: the KGB, the border service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Well, the Armed Forces, that is, units of special operations forces that cover the main directions of the terrorist movement, where illegal armed formations can go through, have been put forward and are standing as a second echelon,” Volfovich said.
He stressed that the authorities have taken a number of steps to cover various non-essential roads, while “in no way hiding from our strategic partners.”
We add that in early May, the State Border Committee of Belarus told the TASS agency about the establishment of control on the border with Russia as part of the implementation of a bilateral agreement on the mutual recognition of visas. The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Sergei Aleinik, however, later clarified that “this is not quite control, it is rather monitoring of the situation on the border.”
