Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, again fighting for the post of head of state, voted in the second round of presidential elections at a polling station in the Uskudar district in the Asian part of Istanbul. It is reported by TASS.
The site is located in the secondary school named after Saffet Chebi. Erdogan traditionally votes there.
Erdogan spent about an hour at the polling station talking to voters despite the rain. He arrived at the Saffet Chebi High School with his wife Emine at 12:05 local time (coincides with Moscow time). Then he went out to the school yard to his supporters, just at that moment the weather worsened, and it began to rain a little. After that, the Turkish leader went to the road leading to the school, where he was surrounded by several hundred people. People saw off Erdogan with slogans in his support.
The area where the school is located was blocked by the police in the morning. He gathered hundreds of local residents who chanted slogans in support of Erdogan, dozens of representatives of Turkish and foreign media. Almost all the houses in Uskudar are decorated with Turkish national flags and banners depicting Erdogan.
It is expected that after the completion of the vote, Erdogan will fly to Ankara and follow the tabulation of the election results from the presidential palace.
