A “physical shortage of volumes” of carcasses and broiler fillets has formed on the Russian market. This is reported by the publication “Vedomosti” with reference to the price monitoring of the analytical agency AD Limited. At the same time, the specific size of the deficit is not called.

One of the interlocutors of the newspaper confirmed the lack of volumes. A representative of a large meat processor also noted that there is a “redistribution of flows” in the market.

The material of the publication says that one of the possible reasons is the difficulties for the producers of the Belgorod region. According to Rosstat, this region is the leader in the industrial production of poultry meat in the country.

As a Vedomosti source noted, in the border regions there are indeed difficulties associated, in particular, with the supply of raw materials, ingredients for growing chicken, as well as with logistics.

Andrey Sokolov, senior partner of AD Libitum, noted that another possible reason for the shortage of broilers on the market could be an increase in exports, primarily to Saudi Arabia. In addition, supplies to the annexed territories of Russia increased, which also diverted part of the volume, Sokolov said.

Konstantin Korneev, executive director of the agricultural consulting company Rincon Management, believes that the reasons may also be subjective. For example, the problems of individual producers with the fulfillment of contracts could cause contractors to sense a trend in the market and desire to stock up on raw materials for future use. This, as a result, led to the emergence of rush demand and rising prices.
