The Council of the International Ski Federation (FIS) decided not to remove the suspension from Russian and Belarusian athletes. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the FIS press service.
“The FIS Council held its spring meeting in person on Wednesday 24 May before tomorrow’s FIS Congress and reviewed the full agenda including reports from the World Championships and Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committees, appointment of technical officials, proposals from the FIS Technical Committees, calendar updates and the rules of the FIS World Championships.
“The current FIS policy that does not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials to participate in FIS events remains in effect until further notice,” they added.
Earlier, the International Ski Federation suspended Russians and Belarusians from participating in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that international federations allow Russians and Belarusians to compete, provided that they do not support a special operation and are not related to military sports societies, and also comply with the World Anti-Doping Code.
