A ban on visiting forests was introduced in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug due to wildfires. It is reported by TASS with reference to the Yugra government.
“On behalf of the Governor of Yugra, Natalya Komarova, in connection with the increase in the class of fire danger, from May 25, it is forbidden to visit forests and enter forest areas in the region on cars, motorcycles, ATVs and other vehicles, including for hunting and fishing in the floodplains of large rivers . It is not allowed to scatter burning matches, cigarette butts, glass containers, it is forbidden to use open fire, carry out fire hazardous work on the lands of the forest fund.
According to the Yugra Aviation Forest Protection Service, at 15:00 on May 24, work is underway on the territory of the Autonomous Okrug to extinguish one landscape fire on an area of 350 hectares in the Surgut region and three forest fires on an area of 87 hectares in the Surgut, Kondinsky and Sovetsky regions. The fire from the Surgut forestry is localized on an area of 82 hectares. 59 employees of Yugra Aviation Forest Protection, forest fire formations of the region and the necessary special equipment were involved in the liquidation.
The cause of landscape fires in all cases was the non-observance of fire safety rules by the local population. Among the causes of forest fires – the human factor is 82%.
