President of the Republic of Korea Yun Sok-yeol, during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Hiroshima on the sidelines of the G7 summit, promised his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to provide “diplomatic, economic and humanitarian assistance,” TASS reports.
In turn, Zelensky noted that he was counting on expanding cooperation with the Republic of Korea, and expressed hope for “additional supplies of non-lethal items,” the South Korean administration said.
Yoon Seok-yeol promised to make efforts to transfer the necessary items, including mine-clearing equipment and ambulances, as soon as possible. Earlier this week, the wife of the Ukrainian leader, Elena Zelenskaya, visited Seoul and asked the South Korean leader for such equipment. She was also interested in air defense systems.
Recall that earlier President Yoon Sok-yeol said that South Korea could start supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine in the event of a “serious threat to the civilian population of the country.”
