Milton Ariel JF, 24, was shot on Tuesday night while walking with another person in the 7 de Septiembre neighborhood of the La Libertad canton, in the province of Santa Elena.
In serious condition, Milton was taken in a private vehicle to a nearby hospital, where only his death was confirmed.
His companion fled the scene of the crime, therefore he was not identified.
According to police inquiries, three individuals who were mobilizing in a taxi were implicated in this hit man. The victim was shot at least five times.
The investigative units checked the video surveillance cameras at the site to follow the escape route of that taxi, said Diego Velasteguí, deputy chief of the Police District in La Libertad-Salinas.
The area was fenced off for several minutes while police officers carried out their work. They found no ballistic evidence at the scene, for which it is presumed that the subjects used a revolver.
Velasteguí confirmed that the victim had a record of illegal possession of a firearm in 2016.
