The G7 countries expressed their willingness to cooperate with China, according to a communiqué issued by the participants of the G7 summit.
“It is necessary to cooperate with China in solving global problems, as well as in areas of common interest, given its role in the international community and the size of the economy,” the statement said. The G7 countries called on China to cooperate in international forums on climate change and macroeconomic stability.
“We do not seek to hinder China’s economic progress and development. A rising China playing by international rules will be of global interest. We don’t separate and turn inward. At the same time, we recognize that economic sustainability requires risk reduction and diversification,” the statement said.
The G7 countries added that they intend to take steps to “reduce over-reliance in critical supply chains” on China.
