On average, Russian applicants are willing to pay 120,000 rubles per semester of study at the country’s leading universities. Forbes writes about this with reference to the results of a study by the international educational center GoStudy.

Almost half – 44% – of the respondents believe that the cost of one semester in such educational institutions should not exceed 100,000 rubles. And every third prospective student – 36% of respondents – are ready to pay no more than 100-150 thousand rubles per semester in the best Russian universities.

Meanwhile, according to the authors of the study, the real cost of education in leading universities is much higher than the expectations of applicants.

For example, a semester at Lomonosov Moscow State University will cost an average of 195 thousand rubles, and in some specialties the price rises to 270 thousand. The average cost of a six-month study at the Higher School of Economics is 230 thousand rubles, at MGIMO – 235 thousand rubles.

As for the cost of studying at a foreign university, applicants are on average willing to spend up to 1,250 euros per semester (about 110,000 rubles).

At the same time, as Ksenia Lazarov, product owner of GoStudy, pointed out, education in certain European countries often costs two to three times cheaper than in Russia. So, in Austria and Germany you can study for 750 euros (65 thousand rubles), and in the best universities in Switzerland – 800 euros (70 thousand rubles) per semester.

According to her, international education in certain areas provides modern knowledge with which students can return to Russia and apply in practice.
