UTair Aviation will be forced to stop up to 30% of its helicopter fleet in 2023, while maintaining problems with the supply of units and components. Such a statement, according to TASS, was made by the company’s CEO Andrey Martirosov.
According to him, this is mainly due to engines for foreign-made helicopters, and for domestic helicopters, on which the engines are not of domestic production. Martirosov stressed that if the situation does not change, the airline’s helicopter fleet may be reduced within a year.
Meanwhile, Rostec noted that the airline’s fleet has helicopters of both domestic and foreign production. In the case of Russian cars, “the problem is exaggerated,” the state corporation believes.
They said that in order to lose a third of the fleet, the owner airline “must try very hard and abandon the maintenance of the ships.” Russian aircraft manufacturers are doing everything necessary to ensure that the fleet receives timely service and continues to operate smoothly, Rostec added.
They also stressed that there is dependence on foreign solutions, but the import substitution program is already producing results.
Note that the UTair group includes one of the largest helicopter carriers in Russia – UTair Helicopter Services. There are more than 320 helicopters in the company’s fleet.
