An alarm has been declared in the commune of Greasque in southeastern France because of snakes that unknown persons have released into the wild near a school and a stadium. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“We inform you that near the stadium and Greasca Primary School, someone has released snakes. We urge the public to be vigilant and stay away from reptiles if you see them. An investigation is underway to neutralize the snakes and find their owner, ”the city of Greasca (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region) said in a statement circulated on social networks.
They are still looking for snakes, although, according to radio France Bleu, their photos appeared on Saturday. Reportedly, it refers to “two or three boas” that were seen wrapped around trees.
“I’m not kidding. These are animals two meters long,” said the mayor of the commune, Michel Ruiz, whose words are quoted by the radio.
An investigation has been opened into the incident. It is assumed that the snake was released by one of the inhabitants of Greask, who was supposed to move, but could not take exotic animals with him.
The radio reminds that boas are not poisonous and, when attacking their prey, wrap themselves around it to strangle it.
