Rappers who read tracks about drugs may face criminal charges from 2024. According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by Deputy Interior Minister Igor Zubov.
“With rappers who sing about drugs, it will be necessary to conduct preventive conversations at the level of administrative responsibility. If they continue, we will plant, where to go. Let them prepare then, ”Zubov said, speaking at a meeting of the Duma Committee on Health Protection.
The meeting participants discussed the planned changes to the administrative, criminal and criminal procedure codes, which provide for tougher penalties for promoting drug use in music, cinema, the Internet (including personal accounts on social networks).
The government submitted the corresponding bill to the State Duma at the end of March. According to the document, propaganda of drug trafficking and consumption on the Web will be punished with a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles, compulsory or corrective labor, or imprisonment for up to two years. The measure will threaten those who have previously been brought to administrative or criminal liability “for committing a crime under this article.” The draft document provides for the new rules to come into force on January 1, 2024.
