The Investigative Committee of Russia will conduct new checks against popular bloggers about their non-payment of taxes if they receive relevant materials from the Federal Tax Service (FTS), said Alexander Bastrykin, chairman of the Investigative Committee.
According to TASS, in this way he commented on media reports that cases of tax evasion could be initiated against a number of well-known bloggers.
The head of the UK noted that the activities of bloggers have become very popular in recent years, thanks to which they can earn “significant capital.” At the same time, according to him, with the growth of bloggers’ incomes, the amount of taxes that should be levied on them began to grow exponentially. Bastrykin stressed that if these citizens do not comply with these requirements, hiding their true income, there are grounds for initiating criminal cases. “From this point of view, such crimes cannot be called unique, they are the usual composition, attributed to the jurisdiction of the Russian IC,” he added.
Recall that since the beginning of March 2023, the Investigative Committee has opened several criminal cases against well-known Russian bloggers. All of them were associated with tax evasion.
