Since the beginning of 2023, 11 criminal cases have been initiated in the Kurgan region against arsonists, the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.
According to the department, 10 out of 11 cases were initiated under the article on the destruction or damage of another’s property on a large scale, committed by careless handling of fire, and one more – under the article on the destruction of forest plantations.
In addition, since the introduction of a special fire regime in the region, 701 protocols on administrative offenses have been drawn up, including 88 for burning dry vegetation and garbage.
In 48 cases, due to these actions, fires of dry grass and shrubs occurred, which led to the development of landscape fires. Since the beginning of the year, 46 perpetrators of landscape fires have been identified and brought to justice, the press service added.
As a reminder, there is a state of emergency in the region due to fires. According to doctors, 21 people died in the fires, another 14 were injured. On May 12, a yellow fire danger level was introduced in the region.
