Sending e-mails with subpoenas to the military registration and enlistment office is not provided for by Russian law. This was stated at the National Center for Defense Control (NTsUO), part of the Russian Defense Ministry.
The department clarified that the mass mailing of emails containing “fake electronic messages” that imitate subpoenas with a demand to arrive at the military registration and enlistment office to clarify credentials is carried out by “Ukrainian provocateurs.”
It is noted that such mailings are carried out in order to gain access to the personal data of citizens, as well as to exert “informational and psychological pressure” on the Russians. The NCUO emphasized that such letters contain malware that steals personal data.
At the same time, the corresponding letters come from addresses that imitate real ones. The text of the mailings says that the recipient of the letter must appear at the military registration and enlistment office by a certain time to receive a mobilization order and register. The malware is contained in a ZIP archive attached to the email.
Recall that, according to the new amendments to the legislation, subpoenas will be served not only in person or through the employer, but also in electronic form, they will appear on the State Services and in the unified military registration register created for this.
