The earthquake in Quito caused damage to the offices of the Carlos Andrade Marín Hospital

There were no news in the Hospitalization area. As a precautionary measure, the IESS suspended outpatient care, procedures and surgeries.

The 4.5-degree earthquake that shook Quito this morning caused minor damage to administrative areas of the Carlos Andrade Marín Hospital (HCAM), reported the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS).

Photographs of the data processing office of the HCAM circulated on social networks, where it is observed that part of the laminate ceiling detached and fell on the desks. The IESS confirmed the veracity of these images.

In a preliminary statement, the institution clarified that there were no problems in the Hospitalization and Outpatient Areas. As a preventive measure, outpatient care, procedures and surgeries were suspended. The HCAM’s internal Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) verified the situation of the facilities.

The general director of the IESS, Nelson García, ordered an inspection of all the medical and administrative units of Pichincha. Once the review is complete, what was found will be released. (I)
