People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Rosenbaum commented on the case of director Yevgenia Berkovich and playwright Svetlana Petriychuk, who are charged with article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (justifying terrorism). According to the musician, the authorities “greatly went too far.”
He spoke about this at a concert in St. Petersburg.
Rosenbaum admitted that he did not watch the play “Finist Yasny Sokol”, but, he added, Petriychuk and Berkovich wrote “simply about deceived Russian women.”
“I’m not talking about politics now. We understand that someone wanted to, but we are smart people,” he said. “Is it possible to do this… in shackles of two girls?”
According to Rosenbaum, the authorities in this case “went too far.”
“It’s time to turn on the back,” Rosenbaum added.
Recall that the performance “Finist Yasny Sokol” was released in 2020 at the theater “Daughters of SOSO”. The production tells about the recruitment of Russian women by terrorists through dating sites. The performance was awarded two Golden Mask awards.
Meanwhile, the other day it became known that a criminal case was opened against the authors of the play, Yevgenia Berkovich and Svetlana Petriychuk, to justify terrorism. On May 5, the court arrested them for two months.
