Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the sidelines of the upcoming Group of Seven (G7) summit in Japan intends to offer mediation in resolving the crisis in Ukraine. According to TASS, the President announced this during a joint press conference with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.
“We need to find someone who can discuss peace, and Brazil is ready for that. I have already spoken to the PRC President, the British Prime Minister, and today the Dutch Prime Minister, and I will speak about this with the Indian Prime Minister and the Indonesian President, as well as many other leaders whom I will meet on [саммите] G7,” said Lula da Silva.
According to the president, topics such as the situation in Ukraine, energy, countering climate change, economic development and the fight against unemployment will be included in the agenda of the G7 summit on May 20-21 in Hiroshima, Japan. “We have many requests for holding bilateral meetings, and I am sure that the Ukrainian issue will be raised at each of them,” the head of state added.
