Writing for the Game of Thrones prequel series has been put on hold due to a Writers Guild of America strike, Rolling Stone magazine cited George R. R. Martin, author of the A Song of Ice and Fire books on which the show is based.
We are talking about the series “Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”, the basis for which is Martin’s cycle “The Tale of Dunk and Egg”. “As of May 2, pens are not writing and computer screens have gone black all over Hollywood. <…> From now until the end of the strike, the writers will be on the pickets, not on the set, ”Martin said on social networks.
Thousands of screenwriters went on strike on May 1 because of dissatisfaction with the level of salaries. The strike was the largest in 15 years. In 2007-2008, a similar strike lasted 100 days and affected the release of many projects.
According to Martin, the work on the show “Dragon’s House”, another prequel to “Game of Thrones”, was not affected by the strike. The writer assured that production will continue as long as there are scripts to shoot. He noted that the script for this show was approved before the strikes began.
