Correísma entertainers Viviana and Mirey, who are diligent prosecutors in the political trial of President Guillermo Lasso, have forgotten the Gospel parable about the adulterous woman: “Let only he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Like the ancient Pharisees, UNES intends to do this despite the karma of so many corruption scandals following its memorable record, which could have inspired the story of Ali Baba and the forty thieves.

Why is the National Assembly deciding this Tuesday whether or not to prosecute President Guillermo Lasso?

Do not sit with the role of defender of public integrity with a straw tail the length of the Great Wall of China, still raining new accusations of money laundering and kickbacks from its operators in the United States.

The case on which the charge of alleged embezzlement is based – Flopec’s contract with Amazon Tankers – has been given many labels in its extensive discussion, none of them favorable: tome, sainete, farce, etc. The qualifications are redundant and none of them deserve the job of oversight and political controls that the National Assembly (NA) must perform.

The defense of President Guillermo Lasso warns of a violation of the constitution by calling on the National Assembly to resolve the impeachment

All the more so because it is an unexpected circumstance that the president of the Commission for the Economic Regime, who is one of the fierce prosecutors, confirmed with her signature the report that proved the suitability of the now questionable contract. With a serious doubt that it was written by interested parties themselves, for which they could be prosecuted.

(…) It was all a montage of those who at any cost want to force death on the cross and take over power…

In this wretched picture appears a rape charge against another of the promoters of the trial, Pachakutik assemblyman Peter Calo, who belongs to Mr. Iza’s radical faction, which has been duly documented. Alarm at how low the AN representation has fallen.

With these recitals, it is worth returning to the argument about the moral authority that should prove or not the alleged impeachment of President Lasso. And the conclusion becomes obvious: everything is a setup by those who, at any cost, want to force death on the cross and take over power, fishing for fish in restless rivers.

What is serious is that these political actors involve in their game those who do not participate in their petty interests, and who ultimately do not agree to this manipulation of overthrowing the president or the government, because they represent the will of the people and the process fulfills all the rigorous constitutional formalities . Although apart from the legal aspect, it is still an institutional coup, the product of a power struggle with the vices of lies and hypocrisy.

What people want in this country – and it’s a shame that those still involved in the trial don’t know this – is to be able to work in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility without bothering with a subject that creates a tense distraction that solves absolutely nothing. On the contrary, it further complicates Ecuador.

It is predicted that the opposition will not have the necessary votes to convict and remove President Lasso. Leaving political and institutional stability safe, it is only possible to appeal for a rethinking of the national destiny, be it the winning or the losing side. (OR)
