Ecuador needs many things. There are so many that it’s hard to get started. Our country urgently needs to restore faith and trust in its authorities. I’m afraid both are largely lost. Many conflicts that tire us explain the disappointment. Many of our authorities spend time blaming themselves for everything and neglecting relevant actions. As much as there is talk of joining forces, fighting for the same goal, the enthusiasm lasts for a few days until a new split occurs.

What these authorities fail to see is that they are the benchmark for the youth. And that, whether they want it or not, seeing so many atrocities and conflicts, young people will replicate some of these behaviors. So: in student elections, the existence of fraud will be discussed, candidates will be insulted, accusations of treason will be made, etc.

Instead of a large number of vile behaviors, what we need is to nurture the fighting spirit in young people, show them the path of goodness with deeds, not just words, encourage them to fight for just things on the right and good paths, teach them that complexes can be overcome, nurture their civility, fight for your peers.

We need to nurture the self-esteem of our boys and girls. Self-esteem is a decisive factor in their lives. She will scare the raid of any complex. In society, we must nurture the need to treat our family well, the elderly, the vulnerable, and pets. Change must start now. Each of us is partly a product of what we have experienced. Can you imagine the punishments that will be handed down by the abused judge in their childhood? Can you imagine what will be the youth of a child who often saw his father arriving drunk? Can you imagine how an adult who experienced a persistently abusive mother as a child would treat his wife? Will they be criminals or good beings who constantly saw their father committing crimes by attacking passers-by? Will he be a drug dealer or a good person who has seen drug sales in his home all his life?

Do we want to change or limit ourselves to looking at such a bleak present and future?

There is no choice. We must fight for changes, for justice, but in the right ways and within the framework of the law. Many years ago a famous person said to me: “Doctor: Well-behaved children are not problematic.” He was absolutely right. Children must be brought up well. It is part of the path to a conflict-free society. Harmony and love in the home will reflect harmony and peace in society. It is something so simple and seemingly so difficult to assimilate. Velasco Ibarra said in 1929: “Ecuador can still be saved.” Let’s imagine the scope of our actions and their effects. Let’s start there!

This is a bit of a romantic article, maybe corny, but some ideas may help. Everyone has to contribute as much as they can. (OR)
