Warehouses with gunpowder in the Sverdlovsk region caught fire not because of a forest fire. This is stated in the release on the website of FBU “Avialesookhrana”.
The report says that, according to the data of the regional forestry dispatch service of the Sverdlovsk region, the forest fire is not the cause of the fire in the warehouses. On the contrary, the fire in the forest is moving from the side of the warehouses, which was recorded by the Forest Watch video surveillance system, according to the release.
Earlier, the media wrote that in the Sverdlovsk region, two warehouses with gunpowder in the village of Pervomaisky caught fire from a forest fire. As noted by TASS, the fire threatened 18 neighboring warehouses, which also store gunpowder.
Meanwhile, according to the agency, one firefighter was injured while extinguishing a fire in the village of Pervomaisky. The man was taken to the hospital. The head of the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Valery Gorelykh, said that according to preliminary information, the firefighter received carbon monoxide poisoning while extinguishing the fire. There were no reports of injured residents.
Warehouses belong to the Gefest-M company, which is engaged in the production of weapons. Each of them holds up to 20 tons of gunpowder.
