The governor of the Sverdlovsk region Evgeny Kuyvashev, commenting on the situation with fires in the region, called it critical. The region’s Telegram channel notes that Kuyvashev also announced the need to provide federal assistance to the region.
According to him, the situation is aggravated due to the weather: a winter with little snow, peat bogs smoldered, then an abnormally hot dry spring, strong wind, tomorrow again gusts of up to 20 meters per second.
The governor said that now rescuers are not able to cope with such a large number of fires. So he was forced to request federal assistance. Kuyvashev also noted that other regions – the Arkhangelsk region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory – help in the fight against fires.
Earlier it was reported that residents of several villages and towns in the Sverdlovsk region were evacuated due to fires. In particular, people were asked to leave the village of Mostovoe, the villages of Verkhoturka, Pervomaiskaya and Olkhovka near Verkhnyaya Pyshma, gardening associations near Asbest, Degtyarsk, Revda, Berezovsky and Artemovsky. According to the head of the Berezovsky urban district, Yevgeny Pistsov, the evacuation was also announced in the villages of Ostrovnoye and Zeleny Dol. There, a strong wind contributes to the spread of fire and the number of forest fires increases.
On the eve of the forests of the Sverdlovsk region introduced a state of emergency.
