One of the most common reasons why a cat rubs its head against its owner’s legs is an expression of affection, the Klops portal writes, citing zoopsychologist Eliza Karamova.
According to the expert, in this way cats express their sympathy – as well as by meeting a person returning to the house with a raised tail.
Another reason is the desire to leave a pheromone secret on a person, which in cats is secreted by glands located on the cheeks, chin and near the ears. “Cats leave their smell on the owner, mixing it with the human. This is how they create the aroma of the colony, by which they determine who is a member of the family, ”explained the expert.
Also, the desire to rub can indicate the mood of the animal: maybe it requires attention, strokes and play, or maybe it has a high level of stress and it rubs against a person to feel safe.
And finally, another reason may be that after such manipulations, the pet receives food. This means that the tradition will be repeated.
