Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang Yi said the Chinese government will take all necessary countermeasures in response to US provocations affecting Taiwan. According to TASS, Wang Yi announced this via videoconference at a meeting with diplomatic representatives of African and Asian states in Geneva.
“I intend to emphasize that all outright provocations by the American side will be followed by the necessary and fair reaction of China,” Wang Yi said.
The meeting was attended by diplomatic representatives of such countries as Gambia, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Laos, Lesotho, Somalia, Sierra Leone and Eritrea.
Recall that the second delegation of US congressmen arrived in Taiwan the day before. This time it is headed by Democratic Senator Ed Markey. American politicians will spend two days in Taiwan.
Liu Xiaoming, Special Representative of the Chinese Government for the Korean Peninsula Affairs, said in this regard that the Chinese authorities “strongly urge” the US administration to “stop interfering in the country’s internal affairs and adhere to the ‘one China’ policy.”
