Instead of the May 9 Victory Parade in Saratov, concerts will be held under the windows of veterans. It is reported by RBC with reference to the Governor of the Saratov region Roman Busargin.
According to the governor, the Saratov garrison will not pass through the square due to security concerns “participants in mass events and our veterans.”
“We will not leave the participants of the Great Patriotic War without congratulations. For them we will prepare personal concerts under the windows of houses. A pleasant surprise will help preserve their health and make them happy on this special day,” the governor said.
There will be no fireworks in Saratov on May 9th. According to Busargin, the money saved on it will be used to support fighters in the war zone in Ukraine.
This year, several Russian regions have decided not to hold the Victory Parade. The government’s decision is explained by security considerations. In Sevastopol, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev announced that the parade was canceled on the recommendation of the Ministry of Defense. The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, explained the cancellation of the parade by the unwillingness to provoke the armed forces of Ukraine with the accumulation of equipment and military personnel in the center of Belgorod.
