In one of his many miracles, Jesus says to the sick: “Get up, take up your bed and walk.” And the Gospel according to Saint John narrates how a man who could not walk walked.

Ecuador needs such a miracle already. It is a paralyzed country, now permanently, not temporarily, and soon it will be a quadriplegic, because that is what the political elites are shouting at it. Far from saying, Ecuador, “get up, take up your bed and walk,” the speech and political action, the way things are done in the country are shouting to this society: “Stop, kneel, fall down and don’t get up don’t walk anymore don’t move rather go to starvation”.

‘Bad’ negotiations

A system of privileges, subsidies, inefficiency and corruption has been created in which Ecuadorians have already lost faith, and we may just have to wait for a miracle of the caliber of those performed by Jesus himself, to restore hope.

The Supervisory Commission questions the report itself, even indicates that it was written outside the Assembly and by interested groups, the groundlessness of the arguments that end the same as always, “it doesn’t matter, the votes count” “, let us see that this is a way of conducting cannibalistic politics which has been eating up the land for decades. Because the cannibal is also the apparent stability of several years, where sentences were imposed, judges were forbidden to agree with any person or institution that litigated against the state, opponents were persecuted in the false garb of democracy, and the waste of the golden opportunity of decades of the best prices ended raw materials and the best conditions in the world economy for advancement.

Negative or positive? (Part 2)

If you want to be a democrat with respect for institutions, the answer is political cannibalism, and if you want to be manageable, you are also a cannibal with the destruction of institutions and the persecution of all opponents with all the tools of the State. This is the lesson of the last 20 years.

(…) what the budget carried out, in relation to what it paid, has a “gap” of enormous proportions.

The problem is that the miracle of healing the paralytic does not happen to the whole society. And therefore, faced with what we are going through, Ecuadorians ask themselves what is the way out?

Where are the elites?

While the whole farce is going on, the state is providing around $9,000 million in fuel subsidies, contributions to the Iess, Issfa and Isspol pension funds and poverty bonus funds. This monster built by politicians, demagoguery and populism, this wild amount of resources is a strong cry to Ecuador: “Sink, don’t walk, destroy yourself.”

In the first quarter of this year, the fiscal fund made arrears of almost one billion dollars. That is, what the budget executed, in relation to what it paid, has a “gap” of enormous proportions.

Many very serious structural problems remain intact: interest rates, labor laws, pension funds, lack of investment, fiscal difficulties, mining delays, among many others. And the miraculous voice that says: “Ecuador, get up and walk” is not visible on the horizon. (OR)
