Due to technical problems, the Legislative Administration Council (CAL) annulled the qualification of the request for impeachment against the Minister of the Interior, Patricio Carrillo, accused by lawmakers of Correismo and Pachakutik, for alleged failure to perform duties during the strike. last June.
The technical problems are derived from an attempt to steal emails that was registered last week in Parliament, which included sending the call to the session on August 5 to the members of the CAL.
Despite this, some legislators met and qualified the trial, but to avoid any subsequent irregularity or illegality in the trial of the Secretary of State, it was decided to dismiss the entire session. That means that the request must be submitted again, according to the legislator, Esteban Torres, a member of the administrative body of the Assembly.
The General Coordination of Information and Communication Technologies and the General Secretariat of the National Assembly presented a report related to the convocation of last August 5, where it is clear that the convocation procedure was not perfected due to a technical inconvenience that affected the normal sending-receiving of the same, and in this sense the nullity of said session is declared and the resolutions are left without effect.
One of those resolutions adopted by the CAL was the classification of the political trial against Carrillo.
The request for impeachment against the Minister of the Interior, Patricio Carrillo Rosero, was presented by Assembly members Jhajaira Urresta (UNES) and Peter Calo (Pachakutik), for alleged breach of duties by ordering police repression in the protests of last June and deficiencies in the fight against insecurity.
