We are full of negative news: murderers, robberies, abuses, fears, etc. If we focus on the problems of crime, it is clear that we are experiencing a painful and serious helplessness. If we focus on the problems of the judiciary, it is clear that physical deprivation is terrible, and it is also very evident that at least some of the judges who release suspected criminals from criminal groups are threatened: either release them or kill them. These judges are also victims of crimes, as were the administrative director of the infamous hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo and the young prison guides who were shot a few days ago while having lunch.
If we go to the impeachment analysis, the situation is also miserable. We all know that crime will decrease significantly the day prisons are without cell phone signals, because crimes are organized from there, however, the authorities are not missing a word. That is, they do not fight the cause, and the fight against the consequences is clearly lost. Obviously if they cut the signal they can die. Simply. In short, we’re done right now.
What happened to this country, the owner of a privileged climate, beautiful beaches, beautiful landscapes and mountains, noble people? We may never be able to tell. It is true that, globally, the state cannot protect us, many institutions do not work, citizens’ faith in their own government is dying. Therefore, the citizens will have to be, as far as they know, the architects of their own destiny. You must organize, plan, execute and promote specific projects for your benefit, create civil corporations, groups organized in the neighborhood; ultimately, to thrive.
Some ideas: create a common chat among neighbors to help each other, have a first aid kit, organize children’s games (because playing in the street is dangerous), set up a place for occasional community meetings, learn about the importance that Native Americans place on community life, publishing interesting articles, teaching children the importance of family, morality, solidarity, dignity, positivity, respect for others, rejection of violence. It’s like you have to start from scratch. Every city should organize a Civic Committee that leads it morally, without “figuretis”. Guayaquil is crying out for a civic board that morally guides it. The civic committee had its golden age. I remember Carlos Estrada, Danilo Carrera himself, the current victim of circumstances. I remember the dedication of both of them.
Civil society must organize itself well, regain its fullness, civility. It’s time for civic meetings, for neighborhood organizations, for healthy leadership. The sadness we live in must be an opportunity for our qualitative growth as a society. In a sentence: we must react well and nobly.
By making citizenship a reality, we take care of ourselves. Let’s fight to get ahead. That is the right way. (OR)
