The Ministry of Internal Affairs has added rules for the use of electric scooters and other means of individual mobility (SIM) to the theoretical exam for all categories of driver’s licenses. It is reported by TASS.

The exams also included questions about the validity of signs 3.29 and 3.30 (“Parking is prohibited on even / odd days of the month”), a new light section for traffic lights in the form of an arrow with a flashing moon-white signal (it warns drivers about a pedestrian crossing in the direction of travel ) and the coverage area of the sign 3.27 (“no stopping”) when used in conjunction with the yellow line of horizontal road markings (marking 1.4).

The ministry explained that they had adjusted the tickets in connection with the amendments to the traffic rules that came into force on March 1.

According to changes in the traffic rules, since March, electric scooters, gyro scooters and unicycles are classified as means of individual mobility; they have a maximum speed limit of 25 km/h. The mass of vehicles that can move on sidewalks, bike and pedestrian paths should not exceed 35 kg. On electric scooters of any weight, it is allowed to ride on the right edge of the carriageway. Traffic will be regulated by special signs.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that the new status does not apply to ordinary scooters and roller skates; people using them are still treated as pedestrians.

Also, since March, several changes have come into force regarding the procedures for obtaining a driver’s license and passing the exam in the traffic police. For example, now a driver’s license can be issued without a barcode. The rights can be canceled in three cases: if the certificate was issued on the basis of forged documents, the driver has confirmed the presence of medical contraindications, or the owner of the certificate did not come for an extraordinary mandatory medical examination.
