All NATO allies have agreed on Ukraine’s entry into the alliance, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said ahead of a meeting of the contact group for the defense of Ukraine at the Ramstein airbase in Germany.
According to Sky News, Stoltenberg stressed that after the end of the conflict with Russia, Kyiv should receive “means of deterrence to prevent new attacks.”
The day before, the head of the alliance visited Kyiv, where he made a similar statement and added that the main goal of the alliance is “to ensure the victory of Ukraine.”
“Now the Allies are supplying more planes, tanks and armored personnel carriers. NATO supports you today, tomorrow and for as long as it takes,” Stoltenberg added.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint press conference assured that he appreciates the support from NATO, but called for accelerating the country’s Atlantic integration. He also called at the next NATO summit in Vilnius (scheduled for mid-July) to approve concrete security guarantees for Ukraine until the process of its entry into the alliance is completed.
