The State Duma adopted a law on the status of a veteran for participants in the conflict in Donbass since 2014

The State Duma adopted in the second and third readings a law on awarding the status of a veteran to those who participated in the hostilities in the Donbass since May 2014. According to RBC, we are talking about those who fought in the armed forces of the republics, people’s militias and other military formations.

Those injured and injured will also be given the status of a disabled person.

In addition, the status of veterans will be granted to contractors who contributed to the fulfillment of the tasks of the Russian Armed Forces during the military operation in Ukraine from February 24, 2022 in the DPR and LPR, as well as in the territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions from September 30.

The document will come into force from the moment of its official publication.

On March 26, 2022, President Vladimir Putin granted the participants of the special operation in Ukraine the status of combat veterans. The State Duma approved this law in three readings at once. The document was submitted to parliament by senators and deputies from United Russia, and 422 deputies spoke out in support of the initiative.

On November 10, the State Duma adopted a law on the status of combat veterans for volunteers. It applies to legal relations that have arisen since February 24, 2022 in the territories of Ukraine, the DPR and LPR, as well as in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions since September 30. In case of injury or injury, the volunteer will receive the status of a combat invalid.
