The conflict in Ukraine is likely to continue into 2024, despite optimistic expectations from the planned counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
According to The New York Times, Wallace urged “to be realistic” and suggested that “there will not be a moment when Russia collapses with a wave of a magic wand.” At the same time, he suggested that Kyiv “keep its momentum and strong position.”
Wallace has issued similar warnings before. After the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson last fall, he noted that Russia was far from defeated, and urged not to underestimate Moscow. “Ukraine has momentum. This is a small impulse, but, nevertheless, the direction of movement belongs to the Ukrainians, ”he said at the same time.
Recall, earlier it was reported that the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army is supposedly scheduled for the spring. According to Newsweek, leaked US intelligence documents contained the start date for the planned maneuvers: April 30th. However, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine adjusted some plans due to the leak, CNN sources claimed.
