On the Birzhevoy Bridge in St. Petersburg, the dismantling of temporary structures has been postponed.
As Mostotrest said, over the past week, specialists were able to remove temporary ice cutters – during the overhaul, the bridge was protected by two such structures, each of seven pipes 27 m long. Active ice drift interrupted the work – because of it, the work schedule of the floating crane had to be changed.
The dismantling of temporary supports that supported the wings of the bridge during the work has been postponed to the beginning of May – experts hope that by this time the main part of the Ladoga ice will have already passed the branches of the Neva. To carry out the dismantling, it will also be necessary to raise the wings of the Birzhevoy Bridge outside of the schedule. The exact time of the wiring will be known later.
“The opening of the renovated Birzhevoy Bridge will be a real gift for the people of St. Petersburg on the occasion of the 320th anniversary of the city. The tradition that had developed back in imperial Russia to open bridges after construction or major repairs by the day of the city will receive a new life. And the overhaul of the Birzhevoy Bridge itself has become one of the largest completed projects in the historical center of the city in recent years,” Mostotrest noted.
