Although dieters are usually encouraged to snack on fruits, nutritionist Vasilisa Ponomareva suggests that not all of them are suitable for a diet that is losing weight.
“Fruits like pineapple, mango and melon can be delicious, but these sweet treats should be limited,” the MedikForum expert said. “Those who lose weight should instead enjoy berries, apples and pears.”
This is because they contain “less sugar”, and sugar is something that weight loss people should limit in their weight loss regimen. Another aspect of “direct sugar reduction” is limiting sugary drinks, desserts, treats and sugar itself, the nutritionist said.
However, you don’t have to give up dessert entirely: the expert recommends a bar of dark chocolate or berries.
“Although very quick and easy to get hold of, breakfast cereals tend to be loaded with sugar and should be avoided,” she added.
Oatmeal (not instant) is a better alternative because it contains more fiber and less sugar. Whenever possible, opt for whole grains over white rice, bread or pasta, advises Ponomareva. She also advised weight loss dieters to avoid low-fat foods, as high-fat fats “will leave you full.”
“I recommend starting the day with eggs. Healthy fats and oils are important, so those who are losing weight should increase their intake of olive oil, oily fish, and avocados. Fatty yogurt is also suitable, ”the expert concluded.
