Coronavirus in Ecuador: the country accumulates 524,211 positive cases since the start of the pandemic

Ecuador added 364 new infections of covid-19 this Saturday, November 20, and accumulated 524,211 positive cases of the disease during the pandemic, according to the daily epidemiological report released by the Ministry of Public Health.

The number of confirmed deaths with Covid-19 rose to 23,466, four deaths more than on Friday, to which are added 9,660 “probable deaths” with the disease, for a total of 33,125 deaths.

The province of Pichincha, whose capital is Quito, is the one that accumulates the highest number of contagion cases with 195,491 positives, 135 new infections compared to Friday’s record; followed by the coastal area of ​​Guayas, whose capital is Guayaquil, with 72,400 (50 additional).

Then the provinces of Manabí (34,653), Azuay (29,229), El Oro (24,190), Loja (18,397), Tungurahua (16,089), Los Ríos (13,278), Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas (12,526) and Cotopaxi (12,304) appear. .

Regarding the situation in the cantons or municipalities, the report states that Quito continues to be the city most affected by the pandemic with 180,870 infections (122 more than on Friday), followed by Guayaquil with 50,055 (37 additional).

Later, cities such as Cuenca (22,583), Loja (12,322), Machala (12,045), Ambato (11,957), Portoviejo (11,229), Santo Domingo (11,133) and Ibarra (9,269) appear, among the most affected, according to the official report.

245,562 booster doses have been applied

Ecuador launched on January 21 a vaccination plan against covid-19 that, with a cut to November 18, has applied 23,857,066 doses, of which 12,862,335 correspond to first applications, 10,749,169 to second doses and 245,562 boosters.

Of the total number of vaccines applied, 13,569,584 came from the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac, 7,190,815 from the American company Pfizer and 2,676,936 from the British AstraZeneca.

Likewise, 419,461 of the inoculated vaccines correspond to the Chinese CanSino, from a single application. (I)
