The authorities of all regions of Russia are facing the problem of stray animals, and measures to combat them are insufficient today, Denis Pasler, head of the Orenburg region, said in his Telegram channel after a pack of dogs bit a child in Orenburg.

“Strayed animals are a problem that exists in every region. Every year we increase the funds for the treatment of animals for municipalities. The heads of the territories know that this is a big responsibility, they know the procedure for catching and handling aggressive individuals within the framework of the law. Unfortunately, the measures provided by the legislation today are insufficient,” the governor emphasized.

Pasler added that chipping animals is not a guarantee of people’s safety, as authorities record cases where dogs brought back on Wednesday have harmed people. “We sent proposals to change the law to the Government of Russia and we want it to be finalized,” he said.

The governor also called on all heads of municipalities to once again conduct a survey of the territories and catch all stray unaccounted dogs.

Recall that a pack of stray dogs attacked a child in Orenburg on the morning of April 16. The boy died at the scene from his injuries.
