From 1 to 2 million Russian tourists may abandon Turkey this summer due to a rise in the price of holidays in this country. This, according to “MK”, said the vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia Taras Kobishchanov.
According to him, if previously a vacation in Turkey could be spent for 200 thousand rubles, now the rest will cost 300-400 thousand rubles. and more, that is, almost twice as much. The ATOR representative pointed out that most tourists are not used to such prices, they are waiting for last-minute tours, but there will be almost none of them, since the role of charter transportation has decreased.
Kobishchanov believes that due to the rise in the cost of holidays in this country, Russian tourists will begin to switch to Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and the Maldives.
The publication writes that last year, prices for holidays in Turkey increased by about 70% compared to previous years, in 2023 there was an increase of another 30%.
Dmitry Gorin, vice-president of the Russian Union of the Tourist Industry, explained to MK that inflation in Turkey last year was 89%, and inflationary processes continue this year. He also recalled the change in the exchange rate: if last year the euro cost 60 rubles, this year it is under 90.
“Thirdly, aviation kerosene has risen in price, inflationary processes are underway in our country, therefore, air transportation prices are higher,” he said.
