Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev won a ticket to the final of the ATP Masters tournament in Monaco. According to Interfax, in the semifinal duel, Rublev defeated the US No. 1 Taylor Fritz – 5:7, 6:1, 6:3.

In the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), Rublev takes sixth place. Fritz is in 10th place, which is the best result among American tennis players.

Rublev’s opponent in the decisive match will be determined later. It will be the winner of the meeting between the Italian Yannick Sinner (8th rating number) and the Dane Holger Rune (9th). The latter knocked out the fifth racket of the world Russian Daniil Medvedev the day before, beating him in the ΒΌ final with a score of 6:3, 6:4.

The tournament in Monaco (clay) has a prize fund of almost 5.8 million euros. The winner will receive about 900 thousand euros and 1000 points towards the ATP rating.

Spaniard Rafael Nadal won the most Masters in Monte Carlo – 11 times, including in a row from 2005 to 2012.

The Russians have never won in Monte Carlo, but in 1990 the tournament was won by the Soviet tennis player Andrey Chesnokov.
