Russians who are in Sudan should not leave their homes and go to the windows. According to TASS, this was stated by the Russian Ambassador to the country Andrey Chernovol.

“All employees [дипмиссии] and Russian citizens are advised to stay at home, do not go to the windows and wait for the situation to be resolved, ”he said.

The diplomat added that there are no data on victims among the Russians. He said explosions were still being heard in the capital, Khartoum. Chernovol expressed hope that the confrontation between the army and the Rapid Reaction Forces (RSF) would end in the near future and the parties would move on to negotiations.

The day before, on April 14, the Sudanese army warned of an increase in confrontation with the RSF and the risk of instability within the country. The next day, the RSF accused the army of a “violent attack”. The organization said armed forces surrounded one of its bases and opened fire with heavy guns.

The Sudanese army responded by accusing the Rapid Reaction Force of attacking army posts. An Al Jazeera source in the army said that the RSF fighters tried to storm the headquarters of the main command. Local residents told the TV channel about the shootings. Reuters wrote about the shooting in Khartoum, including near the headquarters of the state army and the RSF.

Later, the Sudan Rapid Response Force announced control over airports in the cities of Khartoum, Merov and El Obeid, the Republican Palace (the old residence of the President of Sudan) and other facilities in the states of the republic. The Sudanese army denied this information and reported on the continuation of the fighting. Al Jazeera wrote that a military aircraft was spotted in the sky over Khartoum.
