Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that Ukraine is too expensive for the EU countries, and its support cannot last forever. It is reported by Interfax.
According to him, “financial obligations towards Ukraine harm the economy of the union, and, obviously, this cannot continue for an indefinite period of time.”
“The question is whether we will continue to support Ukraine. The moment the Americans and Europeans answer “no” to this question, the conflict will end,” he said on Hungarian radio.
Earlier, Orban said that the countries that provide financial assistance and supply weapons to Ukraine, from his point of view, are direct participants in the conflict.
“If you send weapons, if you finance the annual budget of one of the warring parties, if you promise more and more modern weapons, then you can say whatever you want. No matter what you say, you are participating in the conflict,” Orban said.
He noted that instead of sending weapons to Ukraine, Western countries should promote the idea of establishing a ceasefire and negotiating a peaceful settlement.
The Hungarian prime minister also regularly speaks negatively about the European Union’s policy of sanctions against Russia. In January, Orban said that Europe is taking the wrong approach to sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to him, without European sanctions against Russia, inflation would have halved.
